Our Ninth Session (7 January 2015)

Happy New Year!!

I hope you had a good time and that the 3 wise men treated you well. Last Wednesday:

1- We brainstormed some new vocabulary related to Christmas time! Here you are a link to listen again to some of the words we learnt. Keep in mind the word "New Year's resolution (NYRs)", in Spanish, "propósitos de año nuevo".

2- We briefly explained the future tense and the conditional "would". We used these three forms to express our NYRs.

  • Will / will not = won't (to speak about promises)
Example: I will eat less chocolate. / I won't eat unhealthy food.

  • Be going to / not be going to (to speak about plans)
Example: I'm going to read a book every week. / I'm not going to drink alcohol.

  • I would like to = "me gustaría" (to speak about conditions)
Example: I would like to have a baby in 2015.

=> BE CAREFUL WITH THE "TO", you have to add "to" after the word "like" just in this case.

3- We did an exercise to recap on these new verbs. We also put in order our NYRs.

4- What are your 2015 resolutions? Write them down and practise your English! ;)

5- We saw an example of formal and informal letters and an email.

Have a nice week, mates and don't forget to do your homework!
